Today in lust-worthy travel finds: Stevie Howell robe

Travel + Leisure on June 8, 2017

In the spirit of packing lightly this summer, here’s a piece that’s equal parts versatile and chic.

This La Margarita Green robe by California-based artist and luxury loungewear designer Stevie Howell is the answer to all of your summertime style needs.

Howell found her inspiration for this season in Frida Kahlo’s lifelong home, La Casa Azul, in the Coyoacán district of Mexico City. For Kahlo, La Casa Azul was a refuge from the intensity of city life. She and her husband, Diego Rivera, transformed the home into an artist’s paradise filled with big tropical plants and vibrant décor — all of which are specifically referenced throughout the prints in Stevie’s spring collection.

The fact that you’ll receive this robe in a matching silk lingerie pouch might be reason enough to dub it the ultimate packing essential, but we love it most for its versatility. Thanks to the rise of pajama dressing in recent years, the robe is no longer limited to loungewear.

Light and breezy, it can be worn as a beach cover-up or dressed up for a night out among the palm trees and balmy air. The abstract print (also available in a pajama set) is both warm and cool, ideal for blending into whatever tropical locale your summer travels may lead you to.

If, like Frida, you find yourself craving an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life this summer, slipping into the luxurious comfort of this cotton-silk-blend robe might be your ticket. Consider it a wearable version of La Casa Azul. You can thank us later.
